Sexual Immorality |
Ephesians 5
3But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual
immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper
for God's holy people. 4Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk
or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5For
of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a man is an
idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6Let
no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath
comes on those who are disobedient. 7Therefore do not be partners
with them.
1 Thessalonians 4
3It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should
avoid sexual immorality; 4that each of you should learn to control
his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5not in passionate
lust like the heathen, who do not know God; 6and that in this matter
no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish
men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. 7For
God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
Hebrews 12
16See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau,
who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.
Hebrews 13
4Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept
pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
Matthew 5
Adultery
27"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'
28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman
lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Proverbs 6
24 keeping you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of
the wayward wife.
Galatians 5
19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality,
impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord,
jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and
envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those
who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 5
9I have written you in my letter
not to associate with sexually immoral people-- 10not at all meaning
the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or
idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11But now
I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a
brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a
drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.
1 Corinthians 6
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of
God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor
adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor
thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit
the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were
washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus
Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Sexual Immorality
12"Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is
beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by
anything. 13"Food for the stomach and the stomach for food"--but God
will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the
Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14By his power God raised the Lord
from the dead, and he will raise us also. 15Do you not know that your
bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ
and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16Do you not know that he
who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said,
"The two will become one flesh." 17But he who unites himself with the
Lord is one with him in spirit. 18Flee from sexual immorality.
All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins
against his own body. 19Do you
not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you
have received from God? You are not your own;
1 Corinthians 7
2But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his
own wife, and each woman her own husband. 3The husband should fulfill
his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4The
wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same
way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.
5Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so
that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan
will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 6I say this
as a concession, not as a command. 7I wish that all men were as I am.
But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.
8Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to
stay unmarried, as I am. 9But if they cannot control themselves, they
should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
2 Peter 2
9if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from
trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing
their punishment.
1 Corinthians 10
13No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And
God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But
when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up
under it.
Revelation 21
8But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the
vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the
idolaters and all liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning
sulfur. This is the second death."
Revelation 22
15Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the
sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and
practices falsehood.
