John 3
Jesus Teaches Nicodemus
1Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a
member of the Jewish ruling council. 2He came to Jesus at night and
said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could
perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."
3In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the
kingdom of God unless he is born again."
4"How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he
cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"
5Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom
of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6Flesh gives birth
to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7You should not be
surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' 8The wind blows
wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from
or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
9"How can this be?" Nicodemus asked. 10"You are Israel's
teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things? 11I
tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have
seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12I have
spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you
believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13No one has ever gone into
heaven except the one who came from heaven--the Son of Man. 14Just as
Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
15that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to
save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not
condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has
not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19This is the
verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light
because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the
light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may
be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
Matthew 3
1In those days John the Baptist came, preaching
in the Desert of Judea 2and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of
heaven is near."
11"I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come
one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will
baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
Matthew 3
13Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by
John. 14But John tried to deter him, saying, "I need to be baptized
by you, and do you come to me?"
15Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to
fulfill all righteousness." Then John consented.
John 1
26"I baptize with water," John replied, "but among you stands one
you do not know. 27He is the one who comes after me, the thongs of
whose sandals I am not worthy to untie." 28This all happened at
Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
Jesus the Lamb of God
29The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the
Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Saul, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord--Jesus, who appeared to you on the road
as you were coming here--has sent me so that you may see again and be filled
with the Holy Spirit." 18Immediately, something like scales fell from
Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,
Acts 10
47Then Peter said, "Can anyone keep these people from being baptized
with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have." 48So
he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked
Peter to stay with them for a few days.

Acts 22
16And now what are
you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his
name.'
Romans 6
3Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ
Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were therefore buried with
him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the
dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
1 Corinthians 12
13For we were all baptized by
one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all
given the one Spirit to drink.
Galatians 3
Sons of God
26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27for
all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
Ephesians 4
4There is one body and one Spirit--just as you were called to one
hope when you were called-- 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one
God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
1 Peter 3
21and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not
the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward
God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
